NoVA Labor and IBEW Local 26 Endorse Tia Walbridge for Supervisor

Union support across the region accelerates to help elect Tia to the Board of Supervisors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 26, 2019

Round Hill — Today, Tia Walbridge, Democratic nominee for Blue Ridge Supervisor, announced that Northern Virginia Labor Federation endorsed her campaign for Blue Ridge District Supervisor, following an endorsement from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 26 earlier this week.

“It is an incredible honor to receive the support of NoVA Labor as we fight to bring courageous leadership to Blue Ridge,” Walbridge said. “At a time when the health of our unions and our middle class is constantly under siege, it’s never been more important that we elect local leaders who are committed to standing up for working families. Not just with lip service, but with action and advocacy.”

“The Northern Virginia Labor Federation is proud to endorse Tia Walbridge for Blue Ridge District Supervisor,” Northern Virginia AFL-CIO President Virginia Diamond said. “We are confident that Tia will be a fierce advocate for working people in Loudoun County by fighting against wage theft, preventing attacks on our public employees, supporting strong public schools, working to strengthen our public transportation system, and advocating for family-sustaining union jobs.”

NoVA Labor and IBEW Local 26’s endorsements follows endorsements from SEIU Virginia 512, LiUNA, Loudoun Education Association PAC, Vote Mama PAC, which supports pro-choice moms running for office, Run For Something, Rep. Jennifer Wexton and several state and local representatives, and a score of "51/50" from Equality Loudoun, a group focused on promoting LGBTQ+ rights in Loudoun County.

Tia is a sheep farmer, small business owner, and mom. She was appointed to sit on the Virginia Agricultural Council and is a board member of Loudoun County Farm Bureau. She also serves on the board of Dandelion Meadow, a nonprofit that provides facilities for women battling addiction in Loudoun County.
